Northern Expedition added lights.

The Northern Expedition formerly called the "Great Circle Trip" has been modified to include two very historic lights on the Northern Chesapeake Bay.

We have added TURKEY POINT LIGHT and FISHING BATTERY LIGHT!

This affects the trip in a couple of ways.

1. It adds 42.5 miles to the total trip.
2. It means that we depart Tilghman Island at 0800 sharp.
3. It means that passengers must bring their own box lunch and drinks.
4. It means that we return to Tilghman Island between 1830 and 1900
5. It adds $8.00 pp to the cost of the trip.

So the question is Lighthouse Lovers are these two lights worth the trip changes required.
Let us know so we may plan for the changes.

2014 lighthouse tour schedule

We have just posted the 2014 schedule. We have more trips scheduled and will be running into October weather permitting. We have not increased the rates despite absorbing another significant fuel price increase.
There will be 3 Northern Expedition trips and one Southern Expedition Trip the second weekend in August.
We will be doing a sunset trip every Friday evening and have had guests tell us that it is the best way to get loosened up for a fun weekend.
Come join us as we begin our14th year of helping folks see these historic structures!

Doomsday and Sharps Island Light second alert

Although this light is no longer an active aid to navigation as defined by the USCG it still serves as a navigational landmark for mariners working in the Chesapeake Bay.
Unconfirmed sources have indicated that Sharps Island light may have suffered some setbacks from the winter weather and the ice formations that have battered it in the last month. Some have stated that its lean may have increased by about 2 or 3 degrees more to the Northwest. I suggest that if you want to see the light upright you might want to schedule it this season. I am not looking forward to the day that we try to take a bearing on this structure and find that it has fallen into the Bay.

M/V Sharps Island has been in the shipyard for some much needed attention. Mostly to ensure that she will perform safely while accomplishing her mission.  I will be posting the 2013 schedule on the website and you may access it by clicking on "trip schedule". We have had a minor price increase due mainly to fuel increases.
Please book early to make me feel like it is going to be a great season!!!

Sunset and Great circle Trips June 25 & 26 2010

Yet another terrific weekend out on the Chesapeake Bay. We are still early in the season and have already had the opportunity to meet so many great folks on board the boat...

Friday night we had the privilege of celebrating an 89th birthday...actually 2 of them ...twin brother and sister..89 years young...and they were treated to a beautiful sunset as part of their birthday trip!

Saturday brought us to our first Great Circle trip of the 2010 season..an all day trip to see 10 of the Northen Chesapeake Lights...the weather was beautiful...

winds out of the south kept everyone on the foredeck cooled off with ample spray..and they were all great sports about the salt water spa treatment! The camera equipment brought on board was quite impressive...We look forward to some of the pictures
